POVERTY is not lack of MONEY; POVERTY is MISMANAGED MONEY……
October 4, 2009
“It is possible to give freely and become more wealthy, but those who are stingy will lose everything. The generous prosper and are satisfied; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
Proverbs 11:24-25 (NLT)
Against great popular thinking, poverty is not the lack of money. Just because you don’t have money doesn’t mean you are impoverished. Many times, the lack of money or what is known as poverty, is the result of years of someone misguiding their money. For some time, the body of Christ has identified poverty with lack of money. But the truth is people have simply misguided their money. Those who are obedient when sowing their money always tend to have more. God is a God of abundance, and He has insight as to where we should sow.
I remember many years ago, when I was just a young boy, hearing a conversation between my mother and father. My father curiously inquired of my mother, “What should we buy - beer or bread?” At that time, we didn’t have enough money for both, so they had to choose between beer and bread. My mother responded, “Let’s buy beer.” It wasn’t that my parents didn’t have money. They just used their money in the wrong way.
1. How do you spend your money? (your income, your 13th month pay, your bonuses)
2. Do you see it as a seed, or simply money?
3. Do you generously give it, or do you hoard it?
4. Does it go toward the things of God, or toward fulfilling the lusts of your flesh?
Where your money goes determines whether you walk in abundance or in poverty. The choice is yours. Poverty is not the lack of money; poverty is the proof of misguided money. God calls us to give a tenth to our church. He also calls us to feed the poor and help those who are less fortunate. He calls us to sow into the lives of others for the good they have done in our lives. The moment we begin to follow those instructions is the moment our days of lack are over. When we focus our money in the right direction, money will increase in our lives. We will reap what we sow and that alone. If we don’t sow anything, we don’t have the right to expect a harvest.
Lack is the proof one has misdirected their seed. May God help us today to identify the correct destination of our seed!
A Lifestyle of Thriftiness….
Lifestyle Prosperity
Being Thrifty
1. We must never be wasteful of God’s abundance, blessings.
John 6:12 12
After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is
wasted.”
Luke 15:13-16
13 “A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land,
and there he wasted all his money in wild living. 14 About the time his money ran out, a great
famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. 15 He persuaded a local farmer to hire him,
and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. 16 The young man became so hungry that
even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything.
To waste blessings on wild living will result in poverty
Foolish man spends all he has.
Proverbs 21:20
20 The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.
2. We have no right to judge how other people use their blessings from God.
Matthew 26:6-13 ; Mark 14:3-9
6 Meanwhile, Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon, a man who had previously had
leprosy. 7 While he was eating,[a] a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive
perfume and poured it over his head.
8 The disciples were indignant when they saw this. “What a waste!” they said. 9 “It could have
been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.”
10 But Jesus, aware of this, replied, “Why criticize this woman for doing such a good thing to
me? 11 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me. 12 She has
poured this perfume on me to prepare my body for burial. 13 I tell you the truth, wherever the
Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and
discussed.”
“MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS”
3. We do have the right to judge how other people use our possessions
Luke 16:1
Parable of the Shrewd Manager
Jesus told this story to his disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a manager handling
his affairs. One day a report came that the manager was wasting his employer’s money.
4. Thriftiness does not exclude Generosity.
“Being Thrifty does not mean being Stingy”
Habitual sowing guarantees Habitual reaping. Think like a sower. Your Seed is anything you give to God. Your Harvest is anything God gives to you.
1 Corinthians 16:2
On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with
his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
2 Corinthians 9:6
“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.”
Let’s make sure we understand that our Income, our Wealth are Temporary but our Expenses,
our responsibilities are Permanent. In this life, there would always be ups and downs, times of
abundance and times of famine, difficulties and problems. Lets be a good steward of what God has
entrusted us.
Its your choice, “Enjoy now Suffer Later” or “Suffer now and Enjoy Later”

It was Saturday morning August 8, 2009, about 30 businessmen and OFW attended the Wealth Academy – Series (Fundamental of Financial Planning). It was organized by Mr. Warren Pique, a Financial Consultant himself in the United States.
It was indeed a very successful seminar. One of the participants affirmed that truly, “It was a real Financial Wake-up Call”. He shared to me his story and told that he had earned so much in Network Marketing in many years. “300 thousand pesos a week is just an ordinary income for me”, he continued. It was mismanaged, built an overwhelming lifestyle. And now, all the money is gone.
More stories were told, and it will made you realized that a lot of families in our country are struggling financially. I believe with all of my heart that our Wealth Academy will provide Total Financial Solution to every walk of life, no matter what stage you are in your finances.

| Solomon, The Wisest Man Who Ever Lived, Wrote, “Wealth From Hard Work Grows.” Isn’t It Interesting, Though, That Men Sometimes Believe There Is A Shortcut To Wealth? Notice Solomon Didn’t Say You Couldn’t Get Wealth In A Get-Rich-Quick Scheme. Actually, He Said Just The Opposite; He Said That You Can Get Rich Quick! The Catch Is That It Disappears As Quickly As It Comes. Source: Robb Thompson |
